Founded in 1909 and named after a beer from the local brewery, the team from the Ruhr city of Dortmund have gone on to become Germany’s second most successful club in terms of total honours won. Their five Bundesliga titles is the joint-second highest total, and they have also won the German Cup four times. They are also one of only three German teams to have won the European Cup/Champions League (which they won in 1997, the high point of their late ‘90s golden age). They also won the Cup Winners’ Cup in 1966, and were twice runners-up in the UEFA Cup (1993 and 2002). Their two most recent Bundesliga titles came under the management of Jurgen Klopp in the 2010-11 and 2011/12 seasons (making them the last team to prevent the championship going to Bayern). Dortmund are famous for their passionate support and for having the highest average attendance of any football club in the world. Here at New Vintage Football we have re-created some of “Der BVB’s” most famous shirts from 1990-2011, as worn by stars such as Michael Zorc, Karl-Heinz Riedler, Andreas Moller, Jurgen Kohler, Matthias Sammer, Mats Hummels, and Robert Lewandowski.
