Argentina, twice winners of the World Cup and 14 times Copa America champions, are one of the most iconic of all international teams. Their first World Cup win came on home soil in 1978. They then won again in 1986 in Mexico, with a team inspired by Diego Maradona, considered by many to be the greatest player of all time. The quarter-final against England will always be remembered for Maradona’s highly-controversial “Hand of God” goal, which he followed with the greatest goal in World Cup history. Other legendary Argentinian players include Mario Kempes, Daniel Passarella, Gabriel Batistuta, Sergio Aguero, and, of course, Lionel Messi. The passion and flair of the South American giants have won them supporters from all around the world. Here at New Vintage Football we have re-created some Argentina’s most legendary shirts from the last century, including those from the 1978 and 1986 World Cup wins.
