A major footballing nation that had to wait a long time for success, Portugal didn't qualify for the World Cup until 1966, when the team of the legendary Eusebio finished third. That achievement was not matched until the emergence of the "golden generation" in the 21st century, saw a rapid improvement in Portugal's footballing fortunes. Players such as Luis Figo, Rui Costa, and Ricardo Carvalho helped "Os Navegadores" (The Navigators) find their way to the semi-finals of Euro 2000 and the 2006 World Cup. In between those two semis they reached the final of Euro 2004 on home soil, but were defeated by an unfancied Greek side. All the golden generation seemed to lack was a great goalscorer, but that role was filled in spectacular style by the rise of Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the game’s all-time greats. Ronaldo led Portugal to its first major trophy at the 2016 European Championships in France. Here at New Vintage Football we have re-created all of the kits worn by Portugal's greatest stars and teams.
