Perhaps the most celebrated club in world football, Barcelona’s glorious history has been marked by legendary teams and many of the world’s top superstars. Their motto "Més que un club" (more than a club) refers to their position as a symbol of pride for the people of Catalonia. Barcelona have won more domestic trophies than any other Spanish team, including 26 La Liga titles and a record 30 Copes del Rey. They have won the European Cup/Champions League five times, the Cup Winners' Cup a record four times, and the Inter-Cities Fairs Cup a record three times. Winners of the first ever La Liga title in 1929, Barcelona had sustained periods of success in the 1940s and ‘50s. However, their best years have been since 1990, with 16 of their titles, and all of their European Cups, coming since then. In 2009, under Pep Guardiola, they became the first Spanish team to win six out of six competitions entered, including a La Liga, Copa del Rey, and Champions League treble. They repeated that treble in 2015. Barcelona players have also won a record number of European Footballer of the Year Awards (12). Barcelona’s great rivalry is with Real Madrid, matches between the two teams are known as “El Clasico”. Here at New Vintage Football we have re-created some of Barca’s most famous shirts from 1970-2018, as worn by such legends as Johan Cruyff, Ronald Koeman, Romario, Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Carles Puyol, Samuel Eto’o, Andres Iniesta, Xavi, and, of course, Lionel Messi.
