The undisputed kings of European football, Real Madrid have won a record 13 European Cups/Champions Leagues, nearly twice as many as their closest rivals (AC Milan). Domestically, they also hold the record for most La Liga titles won (34) and have won the Copa del Rey 19 times. Founded in 1902, “Los Blancos” (the Whites) were founding members of La Liga, and one of only three clubs never relegated from the top division. Their conquest of Spanish, and European, football began in the 1950s, an era which saw them win all of the first five European Cups. Their team at the time featured such legendary names as Alfredo di Stefano, Ferenc Puskas, and Raymond Kopa. They almost completely dominated La Liga in the 1950s and ‘60s, and have continued to win regular titles ever since. Since the turn of the millennium, their “El Clasico” rivals Barcelona have won more La Liga titles than Real. But the men from the Bernabeu Stadium have reasserted their European pedigree with seven Champions League victories since 1998, including three consecutive trophies from 2016 to 2018. The club has long been associated with some of the greatest superstars of the game, from the 1950s to the Galacticos era and beyond. Here at New Vintage Football we have re-created some of Real Madrid’s most famous shirts from 1988-2017, as worn by such legends as Hugo Sanchez, Raul, Roberto Carlos, Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldo, Luis Figo, Fernando Hierro, David Beckham, Sergio Ramos, Luka Modric, and, of course, Cristiano Ronaldo.
